Retired Chief Petty Officer Willie Earl Johnson, 86 of Eastover went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Zoar Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, 740 Zoar Church Road, Salemburg, NC 28385 with Pastor Glenn Davis and Chaplain Paul Conley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro St., Roseboro and at other times at the home.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Harnett County, the son of the late Willie Martin and Lorena Tyndall Johnson. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy and he served in the Vietnam War. Mr. Johnson also retired from the Cumberland County Schools and he was a 32 degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Norris Johnson of the home; daughter, Janice Denise Burgette and husband, Allen of Durham; two sons, Jerry Dale Johnson and wife, Melody of Eastover and James Darryl Johnson and wife, Beth of Fayetteville; sister, Margaret Gregory and husband, Billy of Eastover; seven grandchildren, Tyler Burgette, Hayley Burgette, Jeremy Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Jessica Fournier, Dr. Justin Johnson and Jordan Johnson; seven great grandchildren, Charlotte Fournier, Harlynn Fournier, Ryleigh Fournier, Walker Johnson, Cooper Johnson, Kinsley Jones and Boden Johnson; an expectant great grandson, Wells Johnson; and four caregivers, Sheri, Kathy, Amanda and Dana.
