William "Lefty" Love Hughes

 Mr. William “Lefty” Love Hughes, 92 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, officiating will be Rev. Louis Pender.  Burial will follow at Love Faircloth Family Cemetery in Stedman.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 3:50 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Julian Hughes and Amanda Faircloth Hughes; son, Steven Hughes; and his siblings, Harold Hughes, Pauline Simpson, Betty Autry, Donald Hughes, and his infant sister, Elva Corinne Hughes.

Lefty retired as a Major with the United States Air Force, where he was a pilot for twenty years.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Virginia Claire Goldbold Hoxie Hughes of the home; sons, William Jay Hughes & wife, Beth of Tallahassee, FL, and Cameron Hoxie & wife, Lisa of Equador; grandchildren, Greg, Olivia, Ann and Julia McBride and Collin Hoxie; and his sisters, Bonnie Carter & husband, Leo of Hope Mills and Peggy Edge of Fayetteville.
