Ms. Wilda “Mae” Stewart, 90 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 20, 2022 at Center Baptist Church in Wade, officiating will be Rev. Don Davis. Burial will follow in Maxwell Cemetery in Autryville.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM Friday at the church prior to the service.
Mae was born in Cumberland County to the late William K. Williams and Mamie Pope Williams. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Stewart; and her siblings, Melbalene Culbreth, Ethelyne Matthews, Melrose Bochy, Gilda Reese (her twin), and Bracky Williams.
She was a life long member of Center Baptist Church. Mae loved watching soap operas, working word searches, reading her bible and watching the San Francisco Giants in baseball. She loved spending time with her family, as they were very important to her. She had a sharp memory and could remember the names of most family members that others could not. Her most important accomplishment was being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Dianne Stewart of Dunn; sons, Wayne Stewart & wife, Kathy of Wade and David Stewart & fiance’, Joyce Young of Fuquay Varina; grandchildren, Kris, Philip, Taylor and Thomas; great grandchildren, Parrish, Hunter, Remmi, Lainey, Pierce and Lily Jane.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mae’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org), Wounded Warrior Project, 1990 Fordham Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28304 (supportwoundedwarriorproject.org/donate) or to a charity of one’s choice.
