Mrs. Sophia Gabrielle “Pedie” Matthews Creeger, 85 of Clinton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Corinth Baptist Church with the Pastor Bill Hume and Reverend Josh Owen officiating. The burial will follow at the Church Cemetery with the Reverend Dennis Guy officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the funeral home.

Sophia “Pedie” was born October 24, 1938 and was the daughter to the late Bertice and Iona Hayes Matthews and the widow of Jerome William “Sonny” Creeger, Jr., whom she married September 1, 1956.  She graduated from Salemburg High School; was a hairdresser for many years and finished her career as Director of Cosmetology at Sampson Community College.

Sophia was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching the youth Sunday School Class.

She was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother, and granny!  She enjoyed being the family event planner and made sure everyone enjoyed fun and games together.  She also enjoyed planning brunch for many of her lifelong friends, playing cards and spending endless hours shopping with her sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Connie Kraft of Bowling Green, Kentucky; two sons, Greg Creeger and wife Joan of Salisbury; and Doug Creeger and wife Melanie of Roseboro; five grandchildren, Timothy Faircloth, Leslie Faircloth Strickland, Holly Creeger Wagoner (Ben), Kasey Creeger Misenheimer (Sam), and Abby Creeger Harwood (Drew); Twelve great grandchildren, Paisley, Kyra, Cody and fiancé Sarah, Lucy, Dylan, Kloey, Jenny Lee, Maddie, Emmaline, Boone, Liza, Logan; one great great grandson, Nathan; three sisters, Linda Matthews of Salemburg, Laura Matthews Warren of Salemburg, Priscilla Matthews Stevens of Knoxville, Tennessee; one brother, Bertice Don Matthews and wife Betty Sue of Clinton; and many very loved nieces and nephews.
