Mary Louise Johnson

Mary Louise Johnson, 91, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away with her daughter, Mary Ellen and grandson, Richard by her side on March 2nd, 2021 at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn.

A Rosary service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Stedman, prior to the service.

She was a former resident of La Habra, CA and Henderson, NV. Mary was born on July 13th, 1929 in Whittier, CA. She was the 3rd daughter of William H. & Helen L. (Connor) Farr. She was born into a devout Roman Catholic faith and continued her love and devotion until her passing. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Whittier High School in Whittier, CA in 1947. She married Richard E. Johnson on April 30th, 1950 and celebrated 66 years of marriage before his passing in 2017. She was a homemaker and a real estate agent for almost 20 years. Her advice in life was to never lose your sense of humor.

She was blessed with the gift of three children, Michael, Mary Ellen and Brian Johnson. She was grandmother to Richard Hopper, Michael Jr, Jeanne and Mathue Johnson and 4 great granddaughters. Her close relationship and love for her great granddaughter Calleigh Hopper was cherished. She was blessed with many heart made children, Jim Bardeen, Sue Cannon, Linda Schmidt and Sandi Byrnes, grandchildren, Katie Dykier, Krystal Miller and Cassie Renteria, great-grandchildren, Sadie, Karlee and Cassidy Dykier, Kallie, Kenzie and Karson Miller, Drew, Falyn and Brody Renteria.

Grandma Mary was the neighborhood mother and grandmother figure to many others. Being such a loving and caring person, she so enjoyed being with family and friends. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. Anyone that met her quickly realized what a special person she was. Everyone that both her and her husband knew were always welcome in their home and the door was always open for love, advice and a good meal. You were always greeted with her infectious smile. There will never be another like her. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, husband, son Michael, sisters Catherine Farr, Ellen Farr and Patricia (Farr) Cullity.

Her family would like to give special appreciation to Krystal Miller and Michelle Stubbs for the devoted care and love they bestowed upon her.

A Celebration of Life will be on April 10th, 2021 in California. Funeral Mass and burial of ashes will be later this summer alongside her husband and son. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation or City of Hope.
