Mrs. Mary Ann Summerford Bottoms, 74 passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Mary Gran Nursing Center.

Mary was born in Newport News, Virginia and relocated to North Carolina where she became a die-hard NC State Wolfpack and NASCAR/Jeff Gordon fan.

Mary worked at the NCDMV, BB&T, and as a bookkeeper at the Firestone Plant in Wilson, NC.  When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed bowling and traveling to participate in bowling tournaments.  She was an avid reader and crafter.  Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. She traveled all over the state to watch her son and grandson play sports.  She treasured the family’s yearly beach trips and holiday meals; providing the sausage balls, pecan and pumpkin pies.

Mary was predeceased by some very special people; her father and mother-Ed and Betty Summerford, and Gene Bottoms.  She leaves behind people who will miss her dearly; her son and his wife-Larry and Terri Richardson, her grandson and his wife-J.T. and Erica Richardson, and her beloved great grandchildren-Emmalyn, Kaylin, Thomas, and Amelia, her sister- Gerri Cauley and her family, her brother- Rod Summerford and his family, as well as her two sons from other mothers- Kevin Weech and Mike Pollock with their families.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  If you would like to honor Mary’s memory, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity in her honor or plant some daffodil bulbs, so each spring when you see her favorite flower, you are reminded of her.
