MSG Vincent “Tony” Anthony Sova, 83 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro with the Bishop Warren Barfield and Reverend Bryan Strickland officiating. The burial will follow at Wiley Autry Cemetery with full Military Honors.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 12:50 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mr. Sova was a native of Saginaw County, Michigan, the son of Cletus and Mary Belchak Sova. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, Janie Autry Sova; son, Terry Sova; and four siblings, Pat Bussinger, Ken Sova, Larry Sova and Richard Sova.
Mr. Sova was in the US Army for 31 years; he was a Green Beret for 28 years. He worked with Warrens Hardware/James Trading Company for 17 years. He was an avid cyclist, motorcycle rider his entire life. He was a gym rat, champion bowler, SCUBA and HALO instructor. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was married for 56 years to Janie Sova, and he was a proud American.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Ronnie Sova and wife, Rose; his daughter-in-law, Wanda Sova; five grandchildren, Hillary Williams, Tara Sova, Jennifer Chartier, Robert Endrzejewski and Jessica Endrzejewski; his domestic partner, Sylvia Elam; four siblings, Barbara Macomber, Mary Oliver, Clarence Sova and Ed Sova; and numerous nieces and nephews.
