Lucy Frances Hales Lewis passed away on August 5, 2023. Frances was born on October 17, 1934, to her beloved parents, Ola Matthews Hales and Henry Paul Hales. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James E. "Bud" Lewis, her brother Augustus "Buck" Hales, and her sister Joyce Ann Hales.

Frances grew up on the family farm and later attended Louisburg College. She embarked on her career as a bookkeeper and eventually became an Insurance Agent, demonstrating her dedication and hard work in her profession. Throughout her life, she remained a faithful member of Hall’s United Methodist Church, a place that held deep significance for her.

For many years, Frances worked alongside her husband at Spell Furniture and Appliance. She enjoyed over five decades as a member of a bridge group, forging lifelong friendships.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Frances's true passion was centered around her family and her devotion to helping others. Known for her exceptional baking and cooking skills, she found joy in serving others and making them feel cherished.

Frances is survived by her loving children: Melody (Wayne) Honeycutt, James E. (Denise) Lewis Jr. and Paula (Danny) Wolf. She was blessed with six adoring granddaughters: Elizabeth (Tyler) Metcalfe, Madison (Robert) Cratch, Olivia (Garrett) Hall, Rebecca (Tyler) Wolf, Paige Lewis, and Emily Lewis. Additionally, she leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Lucy, Carson and Luke Cratch and Otis Metcalfe.

A service to celebrate Frances's life will be held at Hall’s Methodist Church in Autryville on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. The family invites you to gather in the Fellowship Hall from 2:00 to 2:50 pm for visitation. The service will begin at 3:00 pm, after which she will be laid to rest at Hall’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Hall’s Cemetery Fund at 4621 Minnie Hall Rd. Autryville, NC 28318, in loving memory of Frances.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the devoted and compassionate caretakers at Summit Place and VIA Health Partners, who provided loving care and kindness to Frances during her time with them.

In the legacy of Lucy Frances Hales Lewis, we find a remarkable and generous spirit who touched the lives of many. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
