Mr. Kenneth Matthews left this world and went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the age of 74, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born April 23, 1948, to the late Herman and Ruby Dell Matthews, he was a loving husband, father, papa and brother.

Spending time with his grandchildren, taking them on vacations, swamp walking, and breakfast at McDonald’s were some of the many things he enjoyed doing with them.

He was stationed in Panama and Korea while serving in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, 1968-1970.  After his discharge he farmed a number of years and in 1989 became a contract swine and turkey grower.

He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church since 1982.  He loved the church and served it with great dignity.  He was always ready and willing to help others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ruby Dell Matthews and his step-son, Ronald David Naylor.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda; his son, Kenneth, Jr., and wife, Denise; daughter-in-law, Angie Naylor; grandchildren, Tyler Williams and wife, Heather; Luke Matthews, Harley Matthews; Samantha Naylor; Hanna Naylor and Tate Naylor; brothers, Brent Matthews and Donald Matthews and wife, Linda.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Corinth Baptist Church, 991 Corinth Church Road, Salemburg, NC  28385.  The burial will follow at the Minson Williams Cemetery, 3990 Maxwell Road, Autryville, NC  28318.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
