Mrs. Joan Carrol (Chason) Brown, 70 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Martin and Mr. Tommy Kinlaw officiating. The burial will follow at Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:50 PM on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church prior to the service.

Mrs. Brown was a native of New Hanover County, the daughter of Wilton Arthur and Bessie Willmotte Chason. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeremy Stuart Brown; her brother, Donnie Ridenhour; her sister-in-law, Sherrill Ridenhour; and her brother-in-law, Charles Sessoms. Mrs. Brown retired from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles as an administrative secretary.

She leaves to cherish in her loving memory, her husband, Charlie Brown of the home; her son, Blake Brown and wife, Meredith; her granddaughter, AllieRaye Chason Brown; five siblings, Eddie Ridenhour (Carolyn), Becky Hinson (Richard), Buddy Chason (Carolyn Smoak), George Chason (Jill David), and Martha Sessoms.
