Jerry Robert Fisher, 68 passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, April 14, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman, officiating will be Dr. Jimmy Atkinson.  A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1621 NC 55, Fuquay-Varina, NC  27526.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 11:50 AM Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arney Dunaway Fisher and Eura Mae (Melvin) Fisher; sister, Sandra Fisher Hightower; brother, Leslie Wayne Fisher; nephew, David Smith; and brother-in-law’s, Charlie Spell, Roy Smith,  Bobby Norris, George Francis, Jr. and Larry Francis; mother and father-in-law, George and Katie Francis, Sr; and sister-in-law’s, Diane Fisher and Brenda Francis.

Jerry attended Tar Heel High School and later graduated from FTCC with a degree in Electronic Engineering.  He worked with Cumberland County Schools as an electronic technician and later with Rent America and Horne’s Furniture Store.  After medically retiring he began bass fishing and hunting as he was able.  He was a longtime member of Fayetteville BassMasters.  He was also a member of Stedman Baptist Church.  He really enjoyed squirrel and turkey hunting with his favorite dog “Hot Shot”.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Barbara Francis Fisher of the home; son, Matthew Stephen Fisher of Fuquay-Varina; sisters, Linda Spell of Stedman, Joann Smith of Roseboro, and Faye Norris of Fayetteville; brothers, Franklin Plato Fisher & wife, Diana of Eastover and Leckie D. Fisher & wife, Wanda of Greenville, SC; brother-in-law, Russell Hightower; special friends, Tommy and Tammy West; fishing buddies, Edgar McLaurin and Mike Boahn; and many special nieces and nephews.
