Obituary

ROSEBORO

Mr. James Elmo Ratliff, 85 of Roseboro, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Ratliff was born August 8, 1936 in Letcher County, Kentucky.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Hendrick and Julia Ann Wells Ratliff; and his son, Jeff Ratliff.  He retired from Masonry and attended Mount Carmel Church of God of Prophecy.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Carrier Ratliff; children, Jennifer Wood and husband John, Donna Strickland and husband Jimmy, Teena Kirby and husband Eddie Wayne; thirty grandchildren and great grandchildren; and special friends, Faye Malpass, and Roger Greenwood.

The family wishes to thank Dr. V.K. Reddy, LaRue McConnell, Dora Meeks and all the extended staff of Eastern Carolina Medical Center.  Also special thanks to Michelle Harrell, and Anthony Hudson.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Mount Carmel Church of God of Prophecy, 1655 Mount Carmel Church Road, Autryville, with Pastor Bryan Strickland, Bishop Warren Barfield, Sr. and Mr. Paul Williams officiating.  The family will receive friends following the funeral service.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington.
