Hettie Maude (Hales) Simpson

Roseboro

Mrs. Hettie Maude Hales Simpson, 85 of Roseboro went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at her home.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 27, 2022 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with Rev. Joshua Hughes and Rev. Tim McQueen officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Clay Fork Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:50 PM at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Simpson was a native of Cumberland County, the daughter of Luke and Annie Rue Smith Hales.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernice Simpson; son, Tony Simpson; sister, Rachel Hall and three brothers, Pedro Hales, Sammy Hales and Eb Hales. She was the former owner and operator of Beaver Dam Seafood.

Maude Simpson was an incredible mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend.  She lived her life for the Lord and for her family.  She truly had a servant's heart.  She went above and beyond for her family, always making every day special with her magic touch and thoughtful spirit.  She thought of everyone else before herself, and always said she woke up every morning thanking the Lord for each day.  Her favorite time was spent when the kitchen table was filled with family and friends, especially when the seats were filled by Bernice, Jeff, Tony, Halee and Alex.

It was impossible to leave her house without a special treat, likely a glass bottle Coke or slice of cake.  She always made sure people left her home with a little piece of love, and her love will live on in our hearts forever.  She now leaves behind a legacy that will carry on for generations.  She taught us to seek the Lord in all we do, tell each other we love each other every day,  never leave each other angry, never be mad at God even when things are hard to explain, always forgive even when it is not easy, and love unconditionally.  Most importantly, Maude claimed the promise that one day she would be in heaven rejoicing with all of her family whole again.  This promise of a forever heavenly home due to the sacrifice of Jesus is the greatest lesson she leaves behind for us all.  While Maude's earthly journey has come to an end, her eternal journey has only begun.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Simpson of Roseboro; granddaughter, Halee Parham and husband, Alex of Roseboro; sister, Dorothy Essey of Southport; three brothers, Carson Hales of Stedman, Styles Hales of Roseboro and Gene Hales of Oak Island.

Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, NC.
