Mrs. Helen Wylene Page Matthews, was born June 24, 1929 to Joe Martin and Ola Florence Autry Page, passed from this earthly life to her eternal home at the age of 94 on Sunday September 10, 2023.     

Wylene was married to Irettis Claydell Matthews on November 10, 1946; to this union five children were born, four daughters and one son.  Wylene was an ever-faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a great-great-grandmother. She was pre-deceased by her husband, parents, two sisters Almeta Autry and Lois Lindsay and son-in-law Michael Sutton.  She was a native of the Bethany community until she relocated to Macclesfield, NC to be near her daughter.

She is survived by her brother Leo Page & wife Reba of Fayetteville, son, Dennis Clay Matthews & wife Christie of Clayton, Georgia, and daughters Faye Sutton of Stedman, Vickie Autry & husband Sid of Pfafftown, Wendy White and husband Billy of Macclesfield and Pamela Williams & husband Jimmy of Clayton, North Carolina.  She is survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Sutton & wife Erica, Keith Sutton & wife Debbie, Beth Abernathy and husband Brett, Brittany White, Danielle Chapman, Kasey Williams and Jimmy B. Williams.  She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Matthew Sutton, Cole Sutton, Claire Sutton, Taylor Yenrick, Lauren Abernathy, Abby Tripp, and Bailey Tripp and one great-great granddaughter Gracie Sutton.

A celebration of life service will be held to honor Wylene at Clement Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a lifetime member, at 2:00pm Wednesday, September 13, 2023.    Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 1:50pm Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
