Mr. George Allen Smith, 85, of Godwin went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton with Thomas Ray Smith, Jr. officiating. Burial will be with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
Mr. Smith was a native of Columbus County, the son of Redin and Mary Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie Vukovich Smith; brother, Billy E. Smith; and sister, Ann Ruble. He was a well driller and a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by 2 step-daughters, Valerie Fackler of Burgaw and Mary Anne Peterson of Eastover; a step-son, Roger Vukovich of Rockingham; 3 sisters, Pamela Jean Watts and husband Raymond of Loris, SC, Lora Gail Johnson and husband Dan of Galints Ferry, SC, and Cathy Cartrett and husband Garon of Tabor City; a brother, Thomas Ray Smith of Tabor City; a friend, Janice Faye Peterson of Godwin; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
