Mrs. Frances Lucille Fillyaw Collins of Wilmington entered into Heaven at the age of 93 on July 24, 2020. She was born in Sampson County on February 23, 1927 to Murphy Hanson Fillyaw and Blanche Cain Fillyaw. Mrs. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Pinkney Collins, Jr., son Christopher Collins, sisters Maxine Fillyaw Kendrick, Emma Lee Fillyaw Davis, Ruth Fillyaw Moore, Louise Fillyaw Smith and brother Murphy Fillyaw.
She is survived by her son, John (Julie Carter-Collins), daughter, Geri Collins Heath (Brandon), son, Timothy (Debra Gilroy Collins), daughter-in- law, Catherine Reynolds Collins. She had four grandchildren; Deena Deese Kilmon, Michael Hines, Becky Collins Dudley, Neill Collins and seven great-grandchildren; Sarah and Eleanor Kilmon, Chaylen and Shai Hines, Kaiden Collins, Evelyn and Alia Dudley and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Frances was known for her genuine heart-felt love for everyone. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing about her Lord and Savior. She organized, wrote scripts, and made costumes for plays that told kids and grownups the Bible stories about the Savior of the world – Jesus Christ. She was involved in most of the ministries of Covenant Church and loved to teach children’s church.
Graveside service 3:30 PM Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Roseboro Cemetery, Roseboro.
