Mrs. Frances Elaine Tanner Larson, 75 of Salemburg passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
France Elaine Tanner Larson was a native of Sampson County, the daughter of James Franklin and Lillian Crowson Tanner. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers, Tommy Tanner, Johnny Tanner, Ricky Tanner, Billy Tanner and Jimmy Tanner.
She graduated from Lakewood High School and later from Sampson Community College where she received her RN. She worked at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC for 30 plus Years. During that time she specialized in telemetry, home health and hospice.
After retiring from nursing Elaine, fulfilled a life-time dream of opening a donut shop named “That Donut Shop” located in downtown Salemburg, NC. After retiring from the bakery, she spent her days enjoying the view of wildlife from her back porch and taking care of her three African Grey Parrots (Andy, Sammie and Buddy).
She is survived by her son, Stig Alan Larson and wife, Tiffany of Supply, NC; three grandchildren, Seth Taylor Larson and wife, Abagail of Fort Bragg, NC; Summer Alexis Larson of Wilmington; and Addison Blake Larson of Lumberton; three sisters, Shirley Childress of Clinton; Ann McLeod of Carthage; and Peggy Tanner of Sanford; her brother, Jerry Tanner and wife, Diane of Glenville, NC; her sister-in-law, Julie Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.
Elaine also enjoyed several hobbies; drag racing Volkswagens Beetles, collecting VW memorabilia, fishing trips with her family and adventures with her grandchildren.
