Mr. Elbert "Dink" Mercer Jones, 93 passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with the Reverend Joey Dockery officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Jones was a native of Sampson County, the son of Vernon Claude and Lemmie Emory Jones. He was a retired Automotive Inspector with the Army Civil Service. He was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, a past Master of the Roseboro Masonic Lodge #585.  He also, was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucy Smith Jones and brother, Billy Jones.

He is survived by two sons, Craig Jones and wife, Debbie of Huddleston, VA; and Bobby Jones and wife, Peggy of Hope Mills; daughter, Sherry Coulter of Durham; brother, Vernon Jones, Jr. and wife, Shirley of Clinton; two grandchildren, Amanda Coulter and Ashley Dellis; three great grandchildren and nephew, John Jones and wife Emma and daughter, Kiley of Clinton, who were very special to their uncle Elbert.

Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, NC.
