Autryville
On Friday, November 19, 2021, at the age of eighty-four, Earl Delano Spell of Autryville passed away in his sleep at Kitty Askins Hospice House in Goldsboro, NC with his family.
Delano was born in Sampson County to Earl Gibson and Iula Hall Spell on December 30, 1936 and grew up with his two brothers and six sisters on the family farm. He married Betty Cashwell, his wife of 62 years. He was a good provider and a good father to his two sons Ronald and Keith.
Delano was a US Navy as well as US Army veteran. He worked at Cashwell Refrigeration and retired from Cashwell Appliance Parts after 50 years.
Along with his parents, Earl and Iula Spell, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Avis Jean; and sisters, Alma Doris Autry and Blanche McLamb.
Delano is survived by his wife Betty Cashwell Spell and sons, Ronald Lee Spell and wife, Rose; and Garner Keith Spell and wife, Wendy all of Autryville. He is survived by his grandchildren, Brad Spell and wife, Brittany, Morgan Spell, Miranda Spell and Jordan Ilund.
Also surviving are his brothers, Selby Carson Spell and Woodrow “Woody” Spell and his sisters, Janet Thompson, Genevieve Humbert, Patsy Markham and Cathy Baker. Surviving special nieces, Phoebe Honeycutt West and Sonja Tew, and many other beloved nieces and nephews.

Thanks to all family and friends who brought food, flowers and came by for a visit. That meant so much to him.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23 at Butler Funeral Home, Roseboro from 1:00 to 1:50 PM. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM following the visitation.
Burial will be at Autryville Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted as well as donations, in his honor, to a child or older person in need.
