Mr. Clayton Bryan McDonald, 61 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 22 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro with the Reverend Bobby Herring. Burial will follow at Holland-McDonald Cemetery, on Huntley School Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, November 21 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
Mr. McDonald was a native of Cumberland County, the son of Eugene and Frances Black McDonald. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a retired owner and operator of 301 Environmental.
Clay was very involved in the towing industry and enjoyed helping stranded people just like his grandfather and father before him. He was involved as a member and volunteer in the Towing & recovery professionals of NC, and wreck master, a training organization. He was also a member of Towing and Recovery Association of America. He helped create and maintain the first permanent training site for towing operators in America. He was recognized as Wreck master of the year and made their top ten operator list several times. Clay networked with towing operators from across North America and developed lifelong friendships. Clay was an inspiration to a generation of towing operators for being professional, organized and proficient.
He leaves to cherish is memory his wife, Becky Page McDonald of the home; daughter, Meredith McDonald of Roseboro; brother, Wade McDonald of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved special dog, Coal.
