FAYETTEVILLE Mr. Willie Brent "Bill" Edwards, beloved husband and father, age 59 of Fayetteville, died on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at his home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Beaver Dam Baptist Church cemetery in Roseboro, with military honors. Mr. Edwards was born on February 7, 1951 in Norfolk, Virginia to Willie Josh and Martha Hicks Edwards. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a Superintendant in the Underground Construction Industry. Mr. Edwards is survived by: his wife, Dianne Matthews Edwards of the home; two sons, Brent Edwards and Bonnett Ivey, of Greenville and David Fowler and wife, Amy of Key Largo, FL; one daughter, Kelly Jacob and husband, Bill of Cape Coral, FL; one sister, Joyce James and husband, Al of Carrollton, TX; and one niece, Lisa James of Texas. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. Mr. Edwards was a colon cancer patient and his wish was for anyone wanting to donate to cancer funds to walk into a cancer center and give that donation to one of the patients who is loosing not only their life but their livelihood and could need that money for one more treatment or paying for a prescription in hopes that they might be one of the lucky ones to survive.
