Mr. William E. Tew, 84

SALEMBURG Mr. William Earl Tew, 84 of 4727 Tyndall Bridge Road, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Zoar Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Barker and Rev. W.O. Reiber officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Tew was born in 1924 and was a native of Sampson County. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Rassie and Bertha Lee Williams Tew; his wife, Doris Holland Tew; and two brothers, Donnie Ray Tew and Paul Dixon Tew. He was retired from Burlington Mills. Mr. Tew is survived by: one son, James Tew, Sr. and wife Joan, of Autryville; two daughters, Barbara J. Tew and Diane Tyndall and husband Carl, both of Salemburg; one brother, Max Tew of Autryville; two sisters, Maybelle Hall of Salemburg and Clarice Higdon of Greensboro, Georgia; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Zoar P.F.W.B. Church Building Fund, 740 Zoar Church Road, Salemburg, N.C. 28385.
