Mr. William Meekins Strickland

Mr. William Meekins Strickland, 86, of 510 Hobbs Street, passed away Friday, January 11, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 at 2 PM at Praise Felllowship Church of God in Fayetteville with the Rev. Kenneth Boyd and Rev. Donald Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Mr. Strickland was a native of Sampson County, the son of the late Marion and Ida Draughon Strickland. He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Army. He was a retired civil service employee working from 1964-1984 and also worked with C&R Building Supply. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Strickland and was a longtime member of Praise Fellowship Church of God and Roseboro Church of God. Mr. Strickland is survived by: two sons, W.M. "Bill" Strickland, of Carolina Beach and Charles Strickland, of Roseboro; three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Harper, of Roseboro, Carol Russell, of Lillington and Mary Alice Strickland, of Roseboro; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 till 8 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
