STEDMAN
Mr. William Curtis Matthews, 72 of 6676 Oak Grove Church Road, Stedman, died on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Magnolia Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Whitfield and Rev. Roger White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Matthews was born on September 14, 1940 in Cumberland County to the late Roebud and Murtie Jane Autry Matthews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Carolyn McLemore Matthews. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as a Customer Service Agent with U.S. Air.
He is survived by: his daughter, Sydnie Fiesel and husband, Paul of Stedman; three sisters, Juanita Thompson of Tennessee, Phyllis Naylor of Godwin and Jane Deeson of Florida; two brothers, Hubert Matthews and Wesley Matthews of Stedman; and three granchildren, Rachel Fiesel, Ryan Fiesel and Paul Fiesel.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Magnolia Baptist Church, 1021 Magnolia Church Road, Stedman, and other times at the home of his daughter, 2380 Wade-Stedman Road, Stedman.
