AUTRYVILLE
Mr. William James Lassiter, 96 of 3022 Polly Island Road, Autryville, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Carolina Rehab Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Mike Nelson officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with military honors.
Mr. Lassiter was born in 1914 in Bertie County, NC, to the late William Harvey and Lizzie Mulder Lassiter. He is preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Tommie Lassiter; two brothers, Arthur Lassiter and Thomas Lassiter; and one sister, Sybil Hodges. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and worked as a Warehouse Foreman with Pate-Derby Company.
He is survived by: his wife, Hazel Smith Lassiter; one brother, Hubert J. Lassiter of Woodland, NC; one step-daughter, Margaret W. Gleaton of Hope Mills; one step-son, Edward Ray Wright of Conyers, GA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 4 P.M. at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Stedman.
