Mr. William James Hairr, 74 of Salemburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, November 8, 2024 at McGee United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 2:50 PM on Friday, November 8, 2024 at McGee United Methodist Church prior to the service.
Mr. Hairr was born in Sampson County on December 5, 1949 to Hubert and Margaret Peggy Peterson Hairr. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, L. C. Hairr, Leamon Hairr and Emmit Hairr and his beloved dog, Susie.
He was a retired truck driver. Known to those who loved him as “Pop,” he enjoyed spending time with his daughters and granddaughters. He also enjoyed cutting grass, working on tractors, and picking up his youngest granddaughter from school. He was the ultimate “girl dad” and grill master and could fix anything. He would never admit to having a favorite daughter or granddaughter despite being frequently asked to settle the debate.
He is survived by three daughters, Jeanna Ray and husband, Jeff of Roseboro, Laurie Smith and husband, Shannon and Jaime Hairr all of Salemburg; his daughter's mother, Laura Barefoot; three granddaughters, Bailey Light and husband, Spencer, Marley Ray and Delaney Naylor; a sister, Jeanette McGee and husband, Jimmy of Four Oaks; a brother, Wesley Hairr and wife, Toni of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McGee United Methodist Church, 151 High House Road, Clinton, NC 28328.
