Mr. William Earl Faircloth, 91 went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Peters Creek Baptist Church with the Dr. David Bays officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
Mr. Faircloth was a native of Cumberland County, the son of Jarvis and Vera Reeves Faircloth. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Retha Hall Faircloth; his son, Billy Faircloth; his daughter, Sue Hobbs; his grandson, Kevin Hobbs; four brothers, Herman Faircloth, Bobby “Tink” Faircloth, Rupert Faircloth and Harold Faircloth; and two sisters, Virginia “Jennie” Coleman and Ethelene Baxley.
Earl was best known as a beloved member of his community, Peter's Creek NC, where he was born and lived his entire life. He was known as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend. He was a member of Peters Creek Baptist Church which he also lived beside his entire life. Earl had many professions and interest. He farmed most of his life, loved and made a great living in land and real-estate sales, owned many many businesses through the years ranging from an old country store, to car dealerships to furniture stores, a laundromat, and he owned the first coin operated car wash in Roseboro. He loved collecting antiques and clocks. He loved his tractors and trucks and loved all things related to the farm, his animals, and his gardens. He loved his wife Alice Retha most of all and they were inseparable. They were married 65 years and only spent a few nights apart in all of those years. He was a proud father and grandfather and showered his family with love and support all his life. He will be missed by so many and his life touched all who were blessed to have met him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Johnny Faircloth and wife, Teresa of Roseboro; two grandsons, Shawn Hobbs and Shane Hobbs and wife, Kim all of Roseboro; his great-grandson, Jeremy Hobbs; his son-in-law, Jerry Hobbs of Roseboro; many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; his brother, C.L. Faircloth; and three sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Hall and husband, June; Wanda Joyner and husband, Pete; and Rita Adair and husband, Benny.
