William “Bill” Elijah Autry, 83 passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Oasis Bethany Church, officiating will be Dr. Jeff Burkhardt, Bishop George McLaughlin, and Pastor Craig Autry.  Burial with firefighter honors will be provided by Bethany Fire Department and County Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:50 PM at the church prior to the service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lacy Alexander Autry and Mamie Bell Barefoot; his loving wife of 53 years, Sandra Matthews Autry; and a sister-in-law, Lynn Page Autry.

Bill retired from South River EMC as a District Manager with 42 years of service.  He also retired as Deputy Chief of Bethany Fire Department with 52 years of service, and he was a longtime member of Bethany Oasis Church of God.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, William Craig Autry & wife, Lisa of Fayetteville and Jason Byron Autry & wife, Lisa of Stedman; grandchildren, McKenzie Grace Autry, Klaybrin Zion Autry, Gabriele Faith Autry, Mason Azariah Autry, and Asher Byron Autry; and his brothers, Joel Autry & wife, Louise of Parkton and Wayne Autry of Stedman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Oasis Bethany Church Food Ministry, 7350 Maxwell Road, Stedman, NC  28391.
