AUTRYVILLE
Mr. William Robert "Bob" Shatterly of 7445 Maxwell Road died on March 27, 2012 in The Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center.
Bob was born November 13, 1929 in Atlanta, GA the son of late Gurney Rex and Mattie Estelle Wilson Shatterly. He served in the military as a sergeant in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division, worked with Civil Service at Ft. Bragg, and after retirement worked for Martin Wholesale Meats of Godwin. He was an active and dedicated member of Clement Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the Building & Grounds Committee, member of the Brotherhood and various other committees at the church.
A kind and gentle man, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Bob will not only be missed by his family but also by his church family and many friends who knew him.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Clement Baptist Church, 6020 Maxwell Rd. Autryville, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, March 29, 2012. The funeral service will be held at the church on Friday morning at 11:00 AM with
Dr. James Dees officiating. Burial will follow at Minson Williams Memorial Cemetery on Maxwell Road.
Survivors include his Wife, Avanel of the home; Sons: Robert Wayne and wife, Debbie of Clinton, Jeffrey Dale and wife Elizabeth of Autryville; Daughters: Debra Ann Locklear and husband, George of Raleigh, Melanie Beth Smith and husband, Bryan of Clinton and Sara Annette Benson and husband, Bucky of Lumberton, six grandchildren, Bobby Shatterly and wife, Tamera, Savanna Zinkow
and husband, Cosmo, Matthew George Locklear, Ellis Benson, Caleb Benson and Robert Ethan Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Mary Logan Shatterly and Anderson Claire Shatterly. Siblings: Donald F., James R., Norma June and Tommy Lee Shatterly , Betty J. Mullins, Mary J. Washam, Kittie B. Mayfield and Constance L. Malone all of GA.
In addition to his parents Mr. Shatterly was predeceased by brothers, Gurney
Rex Shatterly, Jr. and Harry Finis Shatterly of GA.
