William "Papa Bear" Curtis Starling

Mr. William "Papa Bear" Curtis Starling, 72 went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Annie Mae Davis Starling; brothers, Joseph, David, Robert, John, Raymond, and Waymond Starling; and a sister, Martha Frances Starling.

William was owner and operator of W C Starling Construction Company.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 34 years, Sheron Ann Starling of the home; children, Curtis Starling & wife, Shawna of Fayetteville, Rev. Donald Keith Carter & wife, Pam of Roseboro, Aseneth Barefoot & husband, Ashley of Newton Grove, Aaron Carter of Fayetteville, Adam Starling & wife, Tiffany of Salemburg, Murphy McKinnon & wife, Brittini of Fayetteville, and Chad Starling & wife, Joanna of Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings,  Bernice Russell of Stedman, James Starling of Stedman, Elizabeth Horne & husband, Curwood of Fayetteville, Linda Starling of Burlington, Thomas Starling & wife, Pam of Linden, and Roger Starling & wife, Susan of Fayetteville.

A hard worker all his life, Curt is best known for his devotion and love for his wife and family. We all enjoyed the many family gatherings and his great grilling. The grandkids running around were not called by their names but the nicknames he gave to them for life. Memories he has given us will last a lifetime until we meet him again for eternity! The greatest gift that Curt left us with was not his great humor or his repetitive jokes but most of all it was his Lord Jesus, and we are all sincerely grateful for that! We love you and will see you again soon Papa Bear!
