Wilbert Coley Matthews, 92 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Clement Baptist Church, officiating will be Rev. Scott Keith and Dr. Jimmy Dees.  Burial will follow at Maxwell Cemetery.

Coley will be at the church at 1:00 PM Wednesday before the service for those who choose to come by and pay their respects.

Coley retired from the City of Fayetteville in Waste Management.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sharack Matthews and Maggie Myrtle Autry Matthews; his wife, Mabel Matthews; sisters, Esther Garner, Delitha Autry, Jewel Bradshaw and Jean Williams; and brothers, Brent and Palestine Matthews, Joel H. Matthews, and Branson Matthews.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Maxwell Cemetery Fund, 377 Halltown Road, Autryville, NC  28318.
