Mrs. Vondia Jannette Fann Strickland, 86, of Salemburg passed away peacefully Monday, February 26, 2024, at home. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, February 29, at 11:00 am, at Salemburg Baptist Church, 300 N. Main St., Salemburg, NC. Visitation and reception will follow the service at Salemburg Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Born on April 18, 1937, in Sampson County, Strickland was the daughter of the late Seavy Fann and Dixie Crumpler Fann, and the widow of Fredrick Strickland and Earl Farthing. She was a graduate of Salemburg High School and went on to attain her cosmetology license. She enjoyed her time as a beautician with her customers, who also happened to be dear friends, for over forty-two years. Strickland was a member of Salemburg Baptist Church where she served in various roles throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who cherished and loved every minute spent with her family and her beloved dog, Deacon.

Also preceding her in death, was her father and mother-in-law, Otto and Roxie Strickland; brother, RH Fann; sister, Helen Herring; brothers-in-law: Fred Herring, Ed Quick, Jasper Boone, Cranford Fann, and Charles Strickland; sisters-in-law: Peggy Boone, Elizabeth Ann Fann; stepdaughter Cathy Conover; step son-in-law Duke Conover.

Strickland is survived by her daughter Lynnette Wilson, (Tom) of Salemburg, son Kettrell Strickland (Sharon) of Clinton, son Clay Strickland (Gina) of Clinton; stepson, Earl Farthing, Jr. (Tonya) of Kure Beach; sister, Mildred Quick; three sisters-in law: Louise Fann (John), Pauline Strickland and Sue Strickland; two brothers-in-law: Bobby Strickland and Jefferson Strickland. Six grandchildren: Trey Tyson (Kendall); Phillip Strickland (Danielle), Forrest Strickland (Laura); Thomas Pope (Courtney); Catherine Ward (Eric), and Fredrick Strickland; five step grandchildren: Cashwell Roberts (Phillip), Davis Farthing, Chandler Farthing, Aaron Conover, and Linda Catherine Conover; ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two very special caregivers, LeShanda Rodriguez and Constance Hunter-Stewart.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salemburg Baptist Church, 300 N. Main St., Salemburg, NC 28385.
