Mrs. Virginia Downing Gainey, 90

STEDMAN Mrs. Virginia Downing Gainey 90 of Stedman died Thursday, April 10, 1014 at the Bethesda Health Care. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 11 at Lafayette Memorial Park with Dr. Phillip Spears officiating. Visitation with family and friends will follow the service at the cemetery. Mrs. Gainey was a native of Cumberland County, the daughter of the late Albert B. and Louise Carder Downing. She was the widow of the late Charles Robert Gainey. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles W. Downing and four sisters, Gertrude Blake, Sara Camlin, Elizabeth Williams and Dorothy Auderer. She is survived by three sons, Charles R. Gainey, Jr. and wife, Gail of Clinton, Jerry L. Gainey and wife, Sharon of Sophia and Greg W. Gainey of Stedman, one grandchild, Ashley Hardison and husband, Andrew; one great grandchild, Graham Hardison; two step grandchildren, Wayne French and wife, Victoria and Sharon Jones and husband, Greg; five step great grandchildren, Rachel French, Braxton French, Aksel French, Christopher Jones and Logan Jones. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Stedman Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 190, Stedman, NC 28391. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, Stedman, NC. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 11 at Lafayette Memorial Park with Dr. Phillip Spears officiating. Visitation with family and friends will follow the service at the cemetery.
