Mrs. Virginia (Smith) Fann, 80 went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 12, 2022 at UNC Rex Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Freedom Baptist Church with the Reverend Bryan Strickland and Reverend John Cuthill officiating. The burial will follow at Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:50 PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Fann was a native of Cumberland County, the daughter of Otis Smith and Alice Baxley Smith Sessoms. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Julian Sessoms; her brother, Hubert Sessoms; and three sisters, Clara Capps, Reba Bullard and Brenda Spell.

Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. As an active church member, she taught Sunday school, was WMU director and sang in the choir. With a strong passion for missions she participated in a variety of church activities. She loved the Lord with her whole heart and was a good and faithful servant. She will be greatly missed by her family, her church family and her community.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Kenneth Avery Fann of the home; two sons, Kent Fann and wife, Terry of Salemburg; and Howard Bennett Fann and wife, Valerie of Salemburg; three grandchildren, Robert Fann and wife, Brittany; Karen Collier and husband, Jason; and Jessica Fann; seven great grandchildren, Kurt Collier, Cole Collier, Konnor Fann, Emmett Collier, Lucas Collier, Will Fann and Julie Collier; two sisters, Trudy Miller of Salemburg; and Julia Faye Sessoms of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.
