ROSEBORO
Mrs. Verbie Marie Smith Williams, 80 of 170 Williams Lane, Roseboro, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
She was born on November 8, 1936 in Bladen County and was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rome and Martha Irene Furmage Smith; husband, Winston Lane Williams; two grandchildren, Jenna Johnson, infant Williams; three sisters, Eloise Williams, Vergie Starnes, Louise Cain; and one brother, Edgar Smith.
She is survived by her six children, Martha Cohen and husband Matt of Roseboro, Emma Johnson and husband Johnnie of Garland, Jerry Williams and wife Caroline of Roseboro, Brenda Straughn and husband Ron of Roseboro, Ronald Dean Williams and wife Janet of Roseboro, Dora Lee Morrissey and husband Brian of Ammon; two sisters, Ressie Wager of Leland, Mary Beasley of Charlotte; one brother, Paul Smith of Michigan; 12 grandchildren, Tim McLaughlin, Jonathan Johnson, Wendy Rodgers, Becky Williams, Angie Williams, Josh Williams, Jerry Williams, Jr., Violet Cambell, Eugene Shields, Fulton Straughn, Williams Lane Williams, Johnny Lee Williams; 23 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Butler Funeral Home, Roseboro, with Reverend Dennis Guy and Reverend Randy Burchette officiating. Interment will follow at Williams-McLemore Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday at Butler Funeral Home, Roseboro, and other times at 204 Williams Lane, Roseboro.
