FAYETTEVILLE
Mrs. Velvia Mae Beasley, 87, of 4531 NC Hwy. 210, passed away Friday, January 2, at Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center. She was a retired clerk at Strickland's Grocery Store. Mrs. Beasley is preceded in death by her parents, Herman Stancil and Annie Starling Stancil; her husband of 32 years, Melvin Beasley; three sisters, Beatrice Cooper, Veonia Fields and Idell Smith; and a brother, Raeford Stancil. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 5 at Evergreen Baptist Church with Rev. Odell Peterson, Rev. Sherrill Boykin and Rev. Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Beasley is survived by three daughters, Joyce Powers and husband Bob of Hobbs, NM, Hazel Hall of Roseboro and Geraldine Griffin and husband Jimmy of Fayetteville; three sons, Durwood Beasley and wife Gayle of Fayetteville, Donald Beasley and wife Edna of Roseboro and Dwayne Beasley and wife Judy of Fayetteville; a sister, Annie Mae Tart of Benson; a brother, Radon Stancil and wife Brenda of Dunn; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday, January 4 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
