AUTRYVILLE Mr. V. Mariland Carter, 76 of Autryville, died on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Long Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Spell, Rev. Allen West and Rev. David Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the T.J. Hall Cemetery in Autryville. Mr. Carter was born on April 6, 1934 in Sampson County and was the son of the late Oscar and Bertha Hall Carter. He worked as a Warehouse Manager at Holt Williamson Manufacturing and a Sweeper at Swift Denim. Mr. Carter is survived by: his wife, Linda Carter of the home; one son, Clay Carter of the home; two daughters, Tracy Verrier and husband, Lennon of Autryville, and Pendy Evans and husband, Richard of Taylor, Michigan; three sisters, Grace Johnson and husband, Johnny of Autryville, Neta Reaves and husband, Harace of Fayetteville, and Onnie Anderson and husband, Elwood of Atkinson; and three grandchildren, Brandon Carter, Sarah Hall and Elizabeth Hall. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman, and other times at home.
