Mr. Truman Martin Oates, 80 of Roseboro passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 23 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro with Rev. Faye Bowden, Rev. Faye Jones, Rev. Sarah Jackson and Rev. George Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:50 PM at the funeral  home prior to the service.

Mr. Oates was a native of Sampson County, the son of Truman and Mary Celeste Hobbs Oates. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a welder for Western Publishing Company. He was a U. S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Joyce Oates of the home; sister, Sadie Oates Brookhouse of Clinton.
