Tommy McArthur of Clinton, NC passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024 at the age of 80. He was born in High Point, NC on August 30, 1943. He graduated from Cocoa High School. He served as a captain, lieutenant, driver, and firefighter for the High Point Fire Department from 1968-1996. He attended First Reformed United Church of Christ in High Point, NC where he served as a deacon. In 1996, he moved to Clinton, NC and became an active member at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Anne McArthur, mother, Margaret McArthur, father, Charles McArthur, and brother, Wilson Cooper McArthur. He is survived by his children Jerry (Deirdre) McArthur of Greensboro, NC, and Anne (Jim) Jobe of Franklin, NC, his brother, Douglas (Barbara) McArthur of Arlington, Texas, sister, Linda Ann Parker (Clinton), brother, Bennie (Chris) McArthur of Port Saint John, Florida, sister-in-law, Judy (Tommy) Johnson of Eden Prairie, MN and sister-in-law Robbie McArthur of Provo Utah. Eight grand-children and two great-grand-children and numerous nieces and nephews and many loving church members and friends at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 7 at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church in Clinton, NC at 3:00p.m. officiated by Pastor Andy Wood. Family visitation prior to funeral starting at 2:00p.m. A private family graveside ceremony will take place later. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church 692 in care of Janice Butler/ Odom Road Clinton, NC 28328. Condolences may be left at www.butlerfh.com
