Lieutenant Timothy "Tim" Dale Loughman

Lieutenant Timothy “Tim” Dale Loughman, 61 passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025 at Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family.

Tim was born on November 10, 1963, in Havre, Montana, to missionary parents whose deep faith shaped the foundation of his life. He grew up alongside his beloved siblings, Mark and Faith, in a home rooted in service, compassion, and purpose.

After moving to North Carolina, Tim married the love of his life, Ruby, in 1983. Throughout forty-one years of marriage, together they built a life centered around faith, family, and service. They were blessed to grow their family with three children, and even more since then, now having five grandchildren, all who were the joy and pride of his life.

A lifelong advocate for those in need, Tim dedicated his career to helping others. He became an EMT and went on to serve faithfully with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department. His devotion to public service was matched only by his unwavering loyalty and strong moral compass.

Tim was known for his deep commitment–to his work, his family, and above all, to the Lord. A man of quiet strength and deep convictions, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the values he upheld, and the trusted love he gave so freely.

Tim, after thirty-six years of service to the citizens of Cumberland County, retired as Lieutenant with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Norman Frank Loughman and Mildred Mae Lauterbach Loughman.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Ruby Loughman; children, Victoria Melvin & husband, Chris, Timothy Adam Loughman & wife, Sarah, and Erica Brooke Webb & husband, Nathan; grandchildren, Jaylin, Henry and George Loughman, Connor Brady, and Fred Webb; brother, Mark Loughman & wife, Arleen; and sister, Faith Oliver & husband, Jeff, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who have become family.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Butler Funeral Home Chapel, officiating will be Rev. Ron Webb. Honors will be provided by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
