Mr. Thurman Alton Johnson, 90, of Garland passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his home.

Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Friday, December 7, at Parkersburg Baptist Church, 204 Reeves Road, Garland, officiating will be Rev. Michael Salisbury.  Burial with military honors will follow at Parkersburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, December 6, at Parkersburg Baptist Church.

He was born April 2, 1928 in Sampson County and was the son of the late Hamilton B. and Bevie Johnson.  He was a member of Parkersburg Baptist Church, was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and worked as a Farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Inez Evans Johnson of the home; sons, Thurman E. Johnson (wife, Julie) of Burgaw and Anthony L. Johnson (wife, Maryanne) of Garland; daughters, Brenda McKinney (husband, Don) of Rehoboth, Delaware and Amanda Johnson of Wilmington; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkersburg Baptist Church Building Fund, 3060 Greens Bridge Road, Garland, NC 28441.

Butler Funeral Home of Roseboro is serving the family.
