Thomas Wayne Nelson, 84 went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Tom peacefully joined his beloved wife, Lorraine Nelson, in eternal rest six days after her passing. Together again, they will forever be united in love.
Born in Bladen County, he is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Peter Nelson and Myrtice Adams Nelson, wife, Lorraine Nelson; sister, Doris Shaver; and a brother, Eddie Nelson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Tammy Duarte & husband, Oscar of Holly Springs, NC, Nancy Gaddy & husband, Fin of Manteo, NC, and Tommy Nelson, Jr. of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Brown and Charles Gaddy, and Kayla Nelson; and a great grandchild, Brielle Nelson; sister Mary Ellen Stanton; and several nephews and a niece.
Tom lived a life guided by compassion, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family. He shared a profound and enduring love with his wife, Lorraine, whom he cherished throughout their many years together. Their bond was a testament to the strength of true love and a beacon of hope to all who knew them.
A memorial service to celebrate the lives of Lorraine and Tom Nelson will be held on Monday, July 24th at 11 am at Butler Funeral Home Chapel, 6535 Clinton Road, Stedman NC. Rev. Louis Pender will be officiating. Burial will follow at White Plains Presbyterian Church Cemetery (8395 Rosindale Road, Council, NC 28434).
As we bid farewell to Tom, we hold dear the memories of the love and joy he brought into our lives. May he rest in eternal peace, forever embraced in the loving arms of his dear wife, Lorraine, as they watch over their family from above.
