Mrs. Sybil Rebecca (Williams) Knowles, 84 of Rebel City went to her Heavenly home June 24, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

The funeral service will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Shawn Berryhill, Rev. John McLamb, Rev. W.O. Reiber and Rev. Bryan Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 28 from 6-8 in the evening at Union Grove Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall and at other times at her home.

Mrs. Knowles was the daughter of Edward Walton and Lola Tew Williams and granddaughter of Jeff and Carrie Matthews Williams and Robert “Bob” and Rovelia Tew.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy Knowles, and her brother E. W. Williams.

Sybil was a retired Tax Analyst from Cumberland County Tax Department.  She later began substituting in the Midway District Schools until she retired again!

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Ann Williams and husband Garry of Clinton’ Kimberly Thomas and husband, Doug of Hampstead; Billie Von New and husband Robert of Rebel City; her son Jamie Knowles and Shelia Lowery of Rebel City.

The apples of her eye were her grandchildren:  Ross Williams and wife, Chelsey of Midway; Trent Williams and wife Ashley of Clinton; Garrett Knowles and wife Katie of Mingo; Kyle Knowles and wife Megan of Clinton, and Carrie New of Greenville.

She is also survived by her precious great- grandchildren:  Asher and Ayden Williams of Clinton; Annalise and Charlee Williams of Midway; Waylon Baird of Mingo; and Ada Grace Knowles of Clinton.  She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to thank Jeanette Cashwell and the staff of Liberty Hospice Care for their love and care of Sybil as well as neighbors and friends.
