Susan Ellen Barrick

Susan Ellen Barrick, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2021. Susan was born in Detroit, Michigan, on Halloween, which of course was her favorite holiday.

Susan was a remarkable woman who has left her family and friends touched by her compassion and creativity. Susan never missed an opportunity to send a card or letter or make a phone call for birthdays, holidays and most importantly, when someone needed kind words or a shoulder to lean on. Susan loved to sew, quilt, paint and garden. Her favorite pastime was to create a unique quilt or doll and give it to just the right person. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Susan is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ronald; son, Matthew (Hope) and daughter, Lynn Mortensen (David); 2 grandchildren, Heather and Eric Mortensen; her sister, Barbara Dingee; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Ebony.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Susan’s memory to Patriot PAWS, an organization that provides service dogs at no cost to disabled American veterans. Donations can be made online at www. patriotpaws.org/donate/.

A private family celebration will be held to honor her life.
