Mrs. Sue Rice Spivey, 69 of 101 Ocean Creek Drive, Myrtle Beach, died on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at her home.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Live Oak United Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Spivey was born on December 12, 1945 in Cumberland County to J.B. and Geraldine Edge Rice. She is preceded in death by her father; and daughter, Kimberly Sue Nesbitt. She worked as Vice President with Bank of America in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Sue Rice Spivey was a life well lived, both in her professional life and in her personal life. Her professional life in banking was filled with challenges, successes and rewards that brought her great satisfaction. But her true joy came from the personal roles as mother to Kim and grandmother to Alex and Mackenzie and the time she was able to spend nurturing and supporting them. Her personal life had its share of sadness and loss but she overcame these events; always making sure that she remained focused and caring for those loved ones close to her. She was a caring loving wife and companion to her husband Archie for over 39 years and leaves a void that cannot be filled. We have our memories of her and will visit them often, keeping her in our lives. We love and miss you, our sweet Melva Sue. Your song is over but your melody lingers forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her husband, Archie D. Spivey of the home; mother, Geraldine Edge Rice of Whiteville; brother, James Burney Rice of Virginia; and two grandchildren, John Alexander Nesbitt and Mackenzie Nesbitt Moore.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
