FAYETTEVILLE
Mr. Stacy Benton Lewis, Sr., 81, of Fayetteville went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 31. Stacy was born in Sampson County to the late Hubert Addison Lewis and Katie E. Benton Lewis. He married Edith Mae Page on June 2, 1948. He worked General Maintenance at Fort Bragg Schools until retiring in 1990. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Lewis and two sisters, Doris Cook and Elizabeth Knight. Stacy was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 3 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman with Rev. Robbie Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Page Lewis of Fayetteville; daughter, Rebecca Cockman of Fayetteville; son, Stacy Lewis, Jr. of Oxford; brother, James H. Lewis of High Point; sisters, Ellene Maske of Summerfield and Eloise Naylor of Holly Ridge; grandchildren, Angela Lewis of Rocky Point, Jennifer Gregory of Wake Forest, Ed Cockman of Pasadena, TX, Benjamin Lewis of Oxford and Staci Silvertooth of Fayeteville; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M., Monday, April 2 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
