Mrs. Shirley Beard Cooper, 82

Mrs. Shirley Beard Cooper, 82 passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at her home.

She was born January 18, 1935 in Cumberland County to the late James Fulton Beard and Kathryn McLaurin Beard. She retired from the Cumberland County school system.

Shirley was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a strong person, always putting others before herself.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Earl Cooper; children, Robbi Dywan (Duke), James "Jim" Cooper, Laurin Cooper (Beverly) and Sue Cooper; grandchildren, Christopher Adams, Katie Strickland, Cooper Strickland, Brendan Cooper and Cameron Cooper; and great grandchild, Rory Adams.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Monday, April 3, 2017 at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, officiating will be Rev. Rob James.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the funeral home.
