White Oak
Mrs. Shirley Jean (Tatum) Chason, 91 of White Oak, NC went to her heavenly home on January 14, 2026. She was born on August 24, 1934, the daughter of the late Homer L. Tatum and Aleen Woodburn Tatum.
Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Milton Chason; son, Hal Chason; sisters, Lib Sessoms (Roscoe) and Margie Evans; brother, Vern Tatum (Linda); brother-in-law, Robert Dunn; and son-in-law, Thad Williams.
Those left to remember her with love are her daughters, Kathy Taylor (Freeman) and Tammy Williams; two sisters, Ann Dunn and Judy Bradshaw (Ed); four grandchildren, Amanda Everette (Larry), Rodney Hill (Jenna), Justin Phillips (Rebecca) and Joshua Hill (Abby). Her proudest joy was her ten great-grandchildren, Lainee Everette, Abel Everette, Eleanor Hill, Madeline Hill, Holden Hill, Rollins Hill, James Phillips, Levi Phillips, Lydia Hill and Sutton Hill. She is also survived by cherished sister-in-law, Beth Cobb (R.E.); her bother-in-law, Larry Chason (Tina); and many loved nieces and nephews.
Her legacy of faith, love, kindness and strength will live on in those who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in White Oak, NC. Visitation will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship building.
