FAYETTEVILLE Mr. Sam Jackson, 83 of Cedar Creek Road, Fayetteville died Friday, May 18, 2012 at his home. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in St. Pauls with the Rev. Barry Byrd officiating. Mr. Jackson was a native of Cumberland County, the son of the late Alex and Docia Pope Jackson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Tew Jackson, four sisters and three brothers. He was a heavy equipment operator. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Gail Carter of Fayetteville; son, Larry Jackson of Fayetteville; three sisters, Isabelle Johnson, Ada Mattingly and Evelyn Kivett all of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Alan Jackson, Jr. of Fayetteville, Tina Canady of Fayetteville, Melanie Thompson of Stedman and Angela Jackson of Fayetteville; two great grandchildren, Stephanie Canady of Fayetteville and Gavin Thompson of Stedman. A special thanks to his granddaughter, Tina Canady and to Liberty Hospice for the care given to Mr. Jackson. Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 6535 Clinton Road, Stedman. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in St. Pauls with the Rev. Barry Byrd officiating.
