FAYETTEVILLE
Mr. Rufus Jenkins McLaurin, Sr., 93, of Fayetteville died Monday, February 17 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He retired from the V.A. Hospital in Fayetteville after 31 years where he was Manager of the Laundry Department. He was a native of Cumberland County, the son of the late Jounious Wellington McLaurin and Repsie Jane Williams. Mr. McLaurin was a veteran of WWII and served as a sergeant in the US Army in The Philippines and New Guinea. He has been a member of Praise Fellowship Church in Fayetteville for 25 years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 21 at Praise Fellowship Church in Fayetteville with Pastor Richard Williford officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at the McLAurin Family Cemetery in Wade.
He is survived by two daughters, Beverly A. Ramsey of Fayetteville and Jennifer D. Fisher of Oak Island; one son, Rufus J. (Mack) McLaurin, Jr. of Greensboro; three granddaughters, Hillary, Heather and Tammy; four grandsons, Nathan, Eddy, Tim and Chucky; seven great granddaughters, Sonny, Shiloh, Rose, Violet, Mahogany, Miriah and Morgan; two great-great granddaughters, Mia and Juliana; and two great-great grandsons, Jerremy and Mason.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, February 20 at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
